On Thursday 25 July the Department of Education hosted a workshop on the topic of ‘Measuring outcomes for care leavers’. Funded by the Oxford Policy Engagement Network, the workshop brought together researchers, policy-makers, charities and practitioners with a shared interest in improving the ways in which local and national government measures care leaver outcomes.
It was led by four care-experienced facilitators (supported by the charity Become), who chaired the research presentations and directed group discussions about what information might be most useful and feasible to collect. The research team are now producing a Policy Brief based on the workshop discussions, which includes recommendations about how outcome measures for care leavers might be improved.
